Positive: Mariory was exceptional! I traveled alone and, being for the first time in Santiago, I wasn't sure if it was safe for a solo female. Mariory offered to show me around the neighborhood and some interesting spots in the city. She made my day absolutely beautiful and shared her experience of life in Santiago. In the backyard, there is a beautiful Damasco tree and a nice spot to relax or read a book. The bathroom was clean and I had a nice warm shower.
Negative: Not a con, but it will help you avoid my mistakes: - For night flights I think Uber is preferable to the shared transfer. My transfer didn't show up for the night flight, but I was able to get an Uber last minute. The host got up in the middle of the night to make sure everything was okay and help me should it be needed. - Coordinate your arrival with the host while you have internet, because the house is protected behind a locked fence, and you need someone to open it for you. My mistake, easily fixed. - You can get a bus to the nearest subway station, and the host will help you to figure your way around (what bus to take at which station).
