The charming French resort of Morzine is ideal for every range and ability of skier or snowboarder, from the family friendly long blues of Les Gets and Pleney to the off piste and freestyle parks of Avoriaz and beyond. Morzine has a huge variety of great ski schools and private instructors. The learning slope and magic carpet at the top of the Pleney is a fantastic facility for the young ones to find their feet and the wide treelined greens and blues in the Morzine / Les Gets area provide plenty of space to progress. Meanwhile, the more experienced kids can show off their skills in the Mini Stash on the Super Morzine or graded features in the snowpacks of Avoriaz. There are also plenty of non-skiing activities available including an open air ice rink in the centre of town, a carousel and the fantastic indoor swimming pool and ice skating/ice hockey complex. You can look forward to the groomed slopes, off piste and cross-country tracks, as well as alternative winter sports such as skidooing, night sledging, ski joering and freeriding, ice-diving beneath a lake, nature discovery tours, snowmobiling, tobogganing and snowshoeing. In the summer there are multitude of activities such as mountain biking, hiking, white water rafting, canyoning, climbing, golf, helicopter flights, fishing horse riding, canoeing, paint balling, paragliding, adventure trails and summer sledging. In the summer, Morzine offers mountain bikers some of the world’s best mountain biking terrain, with around 380kms of marked trails with varying degrees of technical skill required. Road cyclists also enjoy the surroundings and there are 15 mapped itineraries to explore. With such variety on offer, Morzine has been a repeat venue for the Tour de France and a host to the Mountain Biking Championships.
With its 266 pistes catering for all levels, 195 lift installations, 10 snowparks, 89 slopeside restaurants, Morzine also has a lively après scene with plenty of bars. It is full of lovely restaurants with something to suit everyone, from fondues through to fine dinning restaurants. The Haute Savoie cuisine includes a host of locally produced delicious cheeses (such as Abondance and Raclette), and classic meat dishes such as a potence (steak cooked to your taste, and flambeed with whisky at your table) or cassolet. During the winter, Morzine has a packed events calendar. The biggest winter festival is the Rock des Pistes week in March, where live bands play up on the pistes, with many other concerts being held in resort during the evenings. Throughout the rest of the season, some of the bars on the pistes have apres-ski parties starting around 2pm. Later on back in Morzine, many of the bars host live bands and DJ's both for apres-ski and late night parties. Morzine also prides itself on providing family entertainments. The school holidays are particularly fun, with plenty of special activities laid on for children.
Morzine has one of the shortest transfer times of any resort from Geneva Airport. Just over an hour’s drive and you are in resort at the chalet.
Chalet Ren is self-catered, but we are happy to arrange a private chef for your stay, food deliveries or help organise childcare, ski hire, activities, restaurant bookings etc. Please do no hesitate to contact us with any questions at alice@
