Hibernation Station is a charming, cozy 4BR/3BA mountain cottage on a large, well-landscaped property a few steps away from the third-hole green at the Beech Mountain Club 18-hole golf course. Enjoy watching golfers finish hole three and begin four from the spacious and comfortable back porch. North-facing windows and decks reveal seasonal mountain views, best in late fall, winter, and early spring. When the fairways are quiet, the native whitetail deer come out to graze.
The main level of Hibernation Station boasts an open living, dining, and kitchen under vaulted ceilings. The living room features an HD Smart TV, a gas log fireplace, and plush, comfortable living room furniture. Along the back living room wall, glass doors lead to the expansive rear porch, with numerous comfortable outdoor seating and lounging options to enjoy as you look out over the beautiful golf course. The front deck, accessible from the kitchen, has more outdoor seating, a dining area, and a gas grill. Enjoy seasonal mountain views, the fire pit, and the well-landscaped grounds. The master bedroom suite, also on the main level, has a king bed, an HD Smart TV, and an ensuite bathroom.
The lower level features a welcoming entry foyer with bench-style seating, the perfect place to take off your winter boots or tennis shoes so you can relax among the custom comforts at Hibernation Station. The foyer leads into a cozy den with a comfy sofa and an HD Smart TV. As you continue into the lower level, you will find a large bunk bedroom suite furnished with an HD Smart TV and an ensuite bathroom with a tub and shower. The bunk bed is a twin-over-twin, with a third twin trundle bed. The bunk suite with three (3) twin beds is ideal for children, teens, and adults if the need arises. The private full bathroom, HD Smart TV, and comfortable furniture make this a prime room to lay claim to in the house. Two more bedrooms, a large king bedroom with a gas log fireplace and a queen bedroom, have HD Smart TVs. There is a third full bathroom in the hallway with a tub and shower just outside near these bedrooms.
The property features a 500 Mbps up/down fiber internet connection. The WiFi network is a meshed system, delivering blazing fast internet speeds throughout the house and most of the property. It supports streaming programming options including YouTubeTV, Disney+, Netflix, Roku, and DVD and BluRay Players. A karaoke machine on the main/upper level provides fun for kids and adults alike. Finally, a laundry room with a washer and dryer is available for guests to use. CCR does not stock laundry detergent. You are welcome to bring or purchase detergent and use the washer and dryer at Hibernation Station.
The expansive grounds are nearly 1 acre in size, all of which are navigable, well-manicured, and nicely landscaped with numerous flower and plant beds hosting an assortment of native and imported species of plant life. Enjoy the peaceful grounds, the small garden, and evening gatherings at the wood-burning fire pit. Challenge your family to a game of horseshoes, or set up the croquet set or the corn hole boards for more fun outdoor activities without even leaving the yard.
Also on Beech Mountain, only three (3) miles from Hibernation Station, is the Buckeye Lake and Recreation Center. Buckeye Lake offers canoeing, kayaking, fishing, lakeside picnic areas, gazebos, and camping sites. The recreation center is a state-of-the-art facility with indoor and outdoor features, offering amenities like outdoor baseball courts, a softball field, a soccer field, a playground, a climbing frame, a jogging track, and tennis courts. The indoor facility also has tennis courts and indoor pickleball, volleyball, and basketball courts. The indoor facility has a kids' playroom, a weight room, fitness rooms, a snack bar, and clean locker rooms for showering and changing. The recreation center hosts numerous scheduled classes. The Buckeye Recreation Center is open to the visiting public, and a small daily fee provides access to everything available. There are many other fun and exciting things to do, see and enjoy on Beech Mountain. Explore miles of hiking, biking, and UTV/ATV trails. Check out the countless creeks and streams that meander around the mountain, many of which are fishable. There is a frisbee golf course and a mini-golf putt-putt course. Beech Mountain Ski Resort offers downhill mountain biking, roller skiing, and more during warm weather.
Beech Mountain Ski Resort offers snow tubing, ice skating, sledding, skiing, and snowboarding during the winter ski season. The primary roads and the busier secondary roads are well cared for by the Beech Mountain winter road care crews. We advise that you have a 4WD vehicle and a set of tire chains just in case. Beech Mountain makes it as safe and easy as possible for guests to drive in the icy, snowy winter conditions. They aren't superheroes, so you still need to come prepared with a proper vehicle (4WD, ideally higher clearance, good tread) to enjoy your time up here and not end up trapped at the property for any period.
There are numerous fantastic restaurants and shops on the mountain and plenty more to choose from less than eight (8) miles away in Banner Elk. Freds Mercantile General Store in the village on Beech Mountain will have most of what you might want or need, with lots more to tempt you. Coffee shops, ski and summer wear shops, gift shops, and more are all on the mountain for you to visit. Anything that you do not find at the top can likely be found at the foot in Banner Elk or Boone, about twenty (20) miles away.
Sugar Mountain Ski Resort and Sugar Mountain Public Golf Club are less than ten (10) miles away. Grandfather Mountain and its famous Profile hiking trails are less than fifteen (15) miles. Blowing Rock is less than twenty-five (25) miles with Tweetsie Railroad Theme Park and Appalachian Ski Mountain. The village of Valle Crucis, with the original Mast General Store and huge riverfront community park, is fourteen (14) miles away.

Guests with a reservation at Hibernation Station are eligible to apply for a membership transfer to the Beech Mountain Club (BMC) for the dates of the reservation.
BMC policies apply to a membership transfer.
Upon booking, guests will receive an email with instructions, the BMC transfer policies, and the transfer application. This must be submitted to the club by the guest at least 3 days prior to the transfer start date, which can be no sooner than your arrival date.
A membership transfer fee starting at $200 is charged to the guest by BMC upon check-in at the club.
Memberships start at the social level. Guests may upgrade membership with additional fees paid to BMC (see the BMC website for what is included with each level).
Transfers are administered by BMC, which has no affiliation with Carolina Cabin Rentals.
