Olvera , whichever route you arrive from if its daylight then prepare to be wowed by the sight of the 12th century castle and the neoclassic style church atop a huge rock and the white buildings of this large village seeming to spread like icing on a wedding cake !
Set at the top end of a typical narrow street in this Pueblo Blanco (white village) Casa Celestina is a comfortable townhouse where you'll enter into a spacious open plan living room with a spanish style kitchen area thats well equipped for a comfortable home from home. plenty of crockery , cooking utensils, pans glasses , cutlery and some containers so you can store fresh food or use for taking out your picnic! there's an electric hob but as is quite usual in the village no oven (dining out is so reasonable) . a toaster , sandwich maker , kettle ,microwave, fridge and coffee making facilities.
The living/relaxing area has a comfortable sofa/daybed with lots of cushions to relax on , an armchair , large coffee table which does extend into a dining table .
a tv cabinet where you'll find inside some dvds books, maps and area info to read about things to do on your holiday ,board games, playing cards etc.note please that the tv is not connected to an aerial but just there if you choose to stay home and relax with a dvd.
up a few steps takes you to , on the left a good sized passageway with the washing machine, storage shelves, iron, etc. on through to the small shower room and toilet with space and little baskets for all your 'bits and pieces' .
To the right of the steps you have a staircase up to the delightful airy and light bedroom with its double doors to open onto the little viewing balcony ,street view but looking to the right you can see down the street to some mountains beyond and also admire the spectacular sunsets that we get here at certain times of the year!
there's a king size bed , comfortable armchair ,a lovely little table to rest your book and drink on ,(i love this spot) a chest of drawers ,and hanging space for clothes with plenty of coathangers. A single mattress under the bed for an extra guest , bedside tables , hot water bottles for those chilly months and plenty of good quality bedding with a choice of hypoallergenic or feather pillows.
leading off the bedroom up a few steps takes you outside to a cute completely private patio with a bistro table and chairs and a small lounging chair where you can sit out on a balmy evening and light the candles while you dine? i must point out that there are no views from here except for the bluest of skies (fingers crossed) maybe the streaks of colour from our sunsets and of course the fabulous starry night sky!
The house is well equipped for holiday use ; if you wish to stay longer than 2 weeks please do give as much notice as possible.
the house has excellent access and there is free parking along the street but not directly outside, although its never usually a problem to stop outside the door to unload your bags if you pop the hazard lights on before you park up.
Theres a comprehensive amount of bars,tapas bars, restaurants , grocery stores pharmacies in the village and a large supermarket all within walking distance . This is a hilltop village so be aware there are a lot of steep streets but also flat areas if this might be a problem.

There's a wealth of things to see and do; from hiking,
cycling , horseriding , kayaking, birdwatching, all manner of adventure sports including paragliding in a nearby town, lake swimming as well as the numerous other places with pools, The beaches of the costa del sol are approx an hour and a half drive and my personal favourite beaches on the costa de la luz along the coast of cadiz, easily reachable by car in approx two hours Tarifa is a favourite for kite surfing, as is El Palmar. The fabulous stretches of beach at Conil de la frontera are wonderful and best for those with children as the surf isnt as as strong.
to fully enjoy your stay in this gorgeous region a car is recommended , the main roads are mostly excellent and normally fairly traffic free by comparison to the UK .
the main cities of Malaga, Granada and Sevilla are 90min by car..Jerez de la frontera (sherry lovers can book bodega tours) 70 mins, Cadiz 90min, and Cordoba 90mins.
The beautiful historic town of Ronda is an easy 30min drive, along the route there are the roman ruins of Acinipo which are well worth a detour.
close to home we have the Via Verde de la Sierra (green way) right on our doorstep so to speak, this is a 76km walk (return) or maybe hire one of the many different types of cycles to enjoy a fantastic day out catching sight of eagles, vultures or maybe some bee eaters!
however you decide to spend your time here, simply relaxing locally or venturing further for days out i'll be on hand to offer any advice you may need to help make your stay as perfect as possible. As a final note .. the swimming pool is within walking distance and is the public one , piscina municipal.
