A great summer site for golf, hiking, antiques and a wide variety of restaurants in cool mountain settings. Sky Valley opened over 40 years ago. It is the highest course in Georgia and in the dog days of summer, it is significantly cooler than courses elsewhere in the state.
In 2007 a major renovation and redesign were completed by noted course designer, Bill Bergin who also renovated Augusta National.
The base of the valley is 3,000. This golf course condo is surrounded by beautiful mountains with great walking trails and a few fishing ponds.
Shopping and fine dining are enjoyed in the famous tourist destination of Highlands, NC; only 20 minutes away. Antiques are abundant in several nearby towns. Franklin, NC offers all the expectations of a small Appalachian town along with panning for jewels. It is an easy drive just 30 minutes away.

Summary: We were both very disappointed and surprised in the condition of property. There were only 2 reviews posted online at the time of our rental and neither mentioned the issues that we found. In general, it needs major updating. Specifically, the unit smelled musty, the carpets had several very bad visible stains, the shower in the master bath did not work properly, the coffee maker was finicky about coming on, the light in the kitchen was also finicky about coming on and you needed to turn the switch several times. The counter-top surface in the kitchen was worn down to the subsurface. Perhaps the worst of all, the deck furniture was moldy and dirty. We cleaned up the dirt as best we could, but it made sitting outside not very pleasurable. The check out time listed for the property on VRBO was 11 am but the material provided at check-in indicated check out time as 10 am. When I called the office at Timeshares of Sky Valley (managing the rental for the owner), they were not very obliging to even consider honoring an 11 am check out. The day before check out, the cleaning crew put a bundle of towels by our front door. All of this was not very professional. We have stayed at numerous condos over the years, and I must say that this unit was in the worst condition of any that we have stayed in previously. I would say that the current description of the property on the VRBO site is very misleading. It's unfortunate that the condition of the unit detracted from our overall enjoyment of the trip otherwise.
