Nestled in the charming village of Hognaston, on the edge of the picturesque Peak District and a short walk from Carsington Water, this spacious and charming 4 bedroom detached cottage mixes modern amenities with cosy characterful charm.
Centrally located, Mount Pleasant has a fantastic selection of walks, cycle routes and outdoor activities on its doorstep. For quieter days there are plenty of top historical attractions within a 30 min drive and a charming gastro pub just 2 mins walk away!
The space
Situated of a quiet lane in the heart of the village, Mount Pleasant comfortably sleeps 7 (plus child) in 4 attractive bedrooms. With a large open plan kitchen/diner and 2 sitting rooms, there's lots of space for larger groups.
The 2 King Bedrooms come equipped with smart TVs and one of the King beds, is a Zip and Link, so it can be split into twins for added flexibility. Upstairs there are also 2 beautifully renovated bathrooms and there's also a separate WC on the ground floor for convenience.
Downstairs the spacious property consists a stunning spacious newly fitted open plan kitchen/dining room with exposed beams and all mod cons. A great space for whipping up a delicious holiday meal!
Next door you’ll find a cosy snug with log burning stove and at the end of the house is the larger living room, with an original open fire, 50inch smart TV and French doors to the patio and garden.
Outside there is an enclosed cottage garden with a small pond and patio area, perfect for alfresco dining, BBQing or simply enjoying a glass of well deserved wine.
For the more active guests, the cottage also comes with ample storage options for bikes or other equipment and a fully equipped utility room with washing machine.
Guest access
There is off road parking for 1 car and plenty of on street parking on a quiet village road just a few metres away.
A car is advised if you really want to make the most of your stay but you can find local train stations in Cromford, Matlock and Derby and there are intermittent buses to Ashbourne and Wirksworth.
Other things to note
All bedlinen and towels are provided and professionally laundered. We only provide 100% cotton, hotel quality linens. The cottage is also equipped with kitchen towels, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, cleaning products and cooking basics.
There is a Nespresso Coffee machine for your caffeine fix but coffee pods are not included. There is also an open fire, log burner and BBQ and complimentary logs and coal will be left for you.
There are a great selection of gastro pubs, eateries and restaurants within a 15 min drive.
Ocado, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Waitrose also offer local delivery. There is a local Co-op in Wirksworth and an Aldi and M&S Food Hall in Ashbourne. For those that want to shop local, there are lovely farm shops, butchers and green grocers all close by.
As you're staying in the heart of the countryside occasionally mobile signals can be intermittent, but helps with the peace and quiet!
Changeover Days are Monday, Tuesdays and Friday unless agreed otherwise. Bookings must be a minimum of 3 nights Stay. Discounts are available for stays of 7 nights or longer.
Unfortunately we do not accept pets in the cottage and it is not suitable for stag and hen parties.

- Check-in time is 4pm and check-out is 10am.
- Smoking is not allowed.
- There is free parking on the premises for 1 car and lots more space on the quiet village road just a few metres away.
- Pets are not allowed at the property.

Ideally placed, Mount Pleasant is just 2 mins walk to the a charming 17th century family run pub with open log fires, real ales and delicious home cooked food.
Carsington Water, a mere 15 mins walk away offers superb watersports, children’s playground, sailing and bike hire facilities, along with walking and cycle trails.
The nearby walkers paradise of the Peak District and Dovedale and the ancient and popular market towns of Wirksworth, Bakewell and Ashbourne are all just a short drive away.
Ideally placed for access to some of the best National Trust, English Heritage and privately owned stately homes in England. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Kedleston Hall are all within easy reach.
If you’re looking for a fun family day out you have Alton Towers, Ecclesbourne Railway and Crich Tramway Museum all under 30 mins away. And for those adults that are still young at heart, or seeking something more active, why not try paintballing or clay pigeon shooting.
