Hidden away in the shade of majestic pine trees, this cottage is small but very quaint and secluded, making it ideal for a personal retreat, or to have a private space to relax or create. Near our yurt and rock Labyrinth.
The cottage features a full kitchen, a shower/tub, and a small porch. We know you will love connecting with this beautiful and sacred land in this lovely little sanctuary.

HeartSpace has a state-of-the-art multi-thousand-dollar generator system and off-grid gas heating system in all its cabins that ensures that you'll have power, heating, and hot water during any mountain storm. Cabins have a small kitchen in each, bathtubs in select units, and all the amenities you need.
HeartSpace Ranch is a beautiful and truly sacred piece of land nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain range (“The Range of Light” as John Muir called it). HeartSpace exists to steward the land, and curate a sanctuary that brings people closer to Nature and its beauty. At 3200 feet elevation, this gorgeous 27 acre property hosts a wonderful diversity of trees, plants and wildlife. Surrounded by pine forest, two sides of the property are bordered by protected old-growth forest (NID Conservation) where one can find an abundance of grand old oaks, twisted madrones and manzanitas, as well as aspen, birch, fruit trees, wildflowers such as wild roses, and many others. During the right seasons and times, mushroom hunting is superb. Native wildlife include bear, deer, wild turkeys, squirrels, lizards, frogs, butterflies, dragonflies, and many others. It’s also a birder’s paradise and is listed by the National Audubon Society. We even have the remains of an old miner’s cabin from the 1800’s on the property. When you enter the property, take a moment to be present: the positive, uplifting energy is palpable. As well as being on sacred land, the property and its spaces have been blessed and sanctified many times over by Native Americans and shamans and healers from other disciplines.
Situated in the Tahoe National Forest, HeartSpace is a 20 minute hike to a semi-private pristine lake, just 5 minutes by car from Scotts Flat Lake (or a 20 minute hike), 15 minutes from downtown Nevada City, 20 minutes to the Yuba River, and less than an hour from Sugar Bowl ski resort. Boreal, Truckee/Donner Ski Area, and the town of Truckee. There are also multiple hiking and mountain biking trails accessible directly from the property or within walking distance.
Let’s not forget that HeartSpace is only 90 minutes to the shore of Lake Tahoe, the jewel of the Sierras, and one of the most amazing places in the WORLD.
Guests may enjoy exploring the property including communal access to the pool, jacuzzi, rock labyrinth, 30 foot yurt for yoga or meditation, gardens, hammock, rope swing, slack line, etc. We have kayaks and paddle boards available on a first come, first served basis. Other features include easy access to hiking and mountain biking trails, Scotts Flat Lake, Deer Creek, and the incredible natural beauty that abounds here in Nevada County, CA.
We are located in a quiet, rural, forested area. Close to Scotts Flat Lake and lots of hiking and mountain biking trails.
Please be mindful of neighbors and make sure to stay on our property or on established trails in the adjacent public lands. Also please respect quiet times from 9:00pm to 8:00am.
The Fairy Cottage has a loft bed which is accessible by a ladder.
Also note that we are surrounded by forest and there have been sightings of California Black Bears, rattlesnakes, scorpions, and the occasional Mountain Lion. Please use common sense and caution to ensure everyone stays safe at all times.
Here at HeartSpace we strive to provide a tranquil environment for guests to relax and commune with the land. We do have 2 kids that run around the property and need a certain amount of excitement each day. We make sure that they are quiet in the morning and evening.
We ask that you please read and follow our House Rules so all of our guests have a wonderful experience during their visit.
Two vehicles maximum per rental.
No Unapproved Visitors.
Only registered guests are allowed on the property. If you would like to invite a friend, please inquire with your hosts to see if we can accommodate extra visitors.
Hot Tub and Pool.
Shower before using the Hot Tub.
Please refrain from using lotions or sunblock when enjoying the hot tub.
No glass in the pool area.
No diving! The pool is 5’ at its deepest.
There is no fence around the pool so please keep young children monitored at all times.
Please lock your car at night and make sure there is no food or gum in your car.
Don’t leave bags of trash or any food outside the unit at night. If you have trash, let us know and we will take it for you.

Please make sure that all garbage is in the trash can or bagged up.
Please wash any dishes you have used during your stay.
Leave the key inside the unit and send us a message when you are leaving.
