Positive: Great location - outside of the city center, so it wasn't too busy, but still very easy to get to all the touristy spots since there's a tram stop just down the street. There's also a Vomar (supermarket) across the tram stop, and a nice park right in front of the property. Really great dining options within a 15-minute walking distance or one/two tram stops away. Friendly and accommodating staff - We requested a crib during our booking and they had a good pack and play set up for us. Irene met us at the door and was so nice! She was prepared with a little guide on the transportation and a city map highlighting points of interest around the city. She also helped us take our luggage up to our room. And most helpful of all, they allowed us to keep our stroller at a space on the ground floor which was SO NICE, so we didn't have to haul it up and down every time we went anywhere. Spacious - We booked the one bedroom apartment, which had a nice layout. Upon entering, you can go left to the bedroom or right to the living room/kitchen. The bathroom was separated into two rooms - one with the toilet and a sink, and another room with the shower and a sink/cabinet. The kitchen was equipped with all the basic cooking and eating accessories and had a dishwasher. The bedroom had a large wardrobe, plenty of space for us to put our luggage way in the corner, and even with the crib set up, there was lots of room. There was also a washing machine (no dryer, just a drying rack, but that worked for what we needed) in a utility closet in the bedroom. Both the bedroom and the living room/kitchen had doors that you could shut from the hallway. This was really great for us, so we could put our baby to bed in the room and still be able to hang out in the living room without disturbing him. And best of all, we had a balcony! So nice to start the morning out there with some pastries from one of the bakeries in the area.
Negative: It wasn't necessarily a deal breaker for us and the property is up front about it on the listing, but when they say the stairs are steep, they MEAN IT. Not only are they narrow and steep, they curve a little bit as you go up. We were on the 2nd floor, so we had to navigate two flights of stairs. It could add to your experience - it's a classic feature in many Amsterdam apartments, the stairs are basically ladders - or could be a big pain point.
Summary: Great place to stay for our family with plenty of space to spread out, but consider those stairs!
