Summary: Our room was cleaned daily by a committed housekeeping staff. Lorene & Ingrid were exceptional, warm and friendly. They were limited by the lack of resources. Gem is conveniently located on a beach, however the rooms are showing their age and it is clear that management has not invested in updating the room in a very long time. Basic things like a running toilet tank, having to hold the lever to get the toilet to flush, a refrigerator that leaks, all reflect the lack of intention to the small details. For the most part, the staff was helpful and friendly, however, there was a server at the bar at Kalinago who was rude, dismissive and very combative. I was told that she was fairly new to the team. Management could do a better job of ensuring that their employees, as in this case, properly reflect the values and the mission of Gem/Kalinago. Deslin, who assisted us over breakfast and the bar at Kalinago was exceptional! Her maturity level and attention to details, along with her deep care for her customers was appreciated.
