Positive: Since there were no reviews yet for this place on Booking.com, we felt like we were taking a chance.. but it ended up being the best choice this vacation! This review is a bit longer because it’s the first :) First of all, the cabins are located on the outskirts of the town, such that you have a direct view of the rainforest in your ‘backyard’. Getting to the town is possible by public bus (which leaves at around 13:30 from Flores to Uaxactún, and 07:00 from Uaxactún to Flores, daily). Tickets are really affordable. Just ask around to buy a ticket. You could also use a taxi service, though I imagine those are much more expensive. Uaxactún is located in the middle of the Mayan Biosphere and surrounded by Mayan structures to visit. Ask the hosts upon arrival for a tour guide and I’m sure you will have an amazing time! The cabins are exactly as pictured (maybe even better in the meantime, as he is still working on the premises by for example planting pretty plants along the pathway, etc.). They felt big and comfortable, we didn’t see any bugs, and we had a view of the rainforest! The facilities (a men’s and women’s toilet, and two showers) are new, clean, modern (sit-down-toilet that flushes!) and comfortable. Showers were a bit cold but we actually liked that after a warm day of visiting maya temples or doing a jungle hike. At night there even are lights, but since most work on solar power we recommend bringing a headlamp or using your phone for when the sun hasn’t been strong. There is the option to add breakfast, which we highly recommend! Just imagine having a luxury breakfast in the middle of the rainforest while listening to howler monkeys and seeing a small toucan fly by. It is run by a cute family (and their very cute dogs and cats). They made sure we had everything we needed and even set up a tour guide for us to take us to the maya structures.

Negative: There was no WiFi, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there will be in the future. You can find WiFi in the restaurant of the village though. Maybe a point of improvement would be somewhere in the cabin to hang up towels/clothes/jackets to dry. A simple nail in the wall or a small hook would probably suffice :) There were some solar lamps (like very cute fairy lights) without a switch, so at night we slept with the fairy lights on. Since I sleep with a mask anyways this didn’t bother me, but bring a face mask if you need one. Again: we were the very first visitors so points of improvement really don’t weigh that much I think! We still highly recommend this place :)

Summary: True jungle experience, away from crowds and still with all luxuries! Highly recommended
