This retreat consists of a main lake home and three full-size cottages, all with their own lake views - plenty of space to host family reunions where everyone can enjoy the cottages, relax in the main house, gather together in the large wrap-around screened-in porch and enjoy a campfire each night. Follow the original brick steps to the boathouse pier, where you can go back in time and jump off the old wood diving board or relax in the lakeside sauna after a swim. A lakeside path leads you from the boathouse to the east pier, where lots of fun can be had with kayaks and paddleboards or just sitting and enjoying the view. The 600' of pristine sand frontage has a swimming beach and breathtaking lake views. The 16 acres of the wooded preserve is covered with mature hardwoods and pines, with plenty of paths for walking and exploring.
Idlewild House
The main house sits atop Plum Lake and boasts 7 bedrooms, 1.5 baths for comfortable sleeping. The 4 king beds, 2 queen beds, and 2 twin beds offer a variety of views and experiences for all. Fall asleep in an old-world sleeping porches as the 2 screened bedrooms make you feel like you are bunking with nature with amazing sunrise views that you will swear are watercolor paintings. Each bedroom envelopes you in vintage bead board, original plank floors, and old-world surprises like a bedroom sink, reading light, or tin match holders, giving you a sense of times gone by as you retreat and slow down.
The main living room has a large wood-burning fireplace with comfortable seating and storage benches full of games and puzzles for all to enjoy. The large, screened wrap-around porch is the highlight of the house and takes you back to a slower time, where sitting in the rockers, talking about the one that got away, is a daily activity. This home is under the constant watch of our resident eagle, whose nest sits right above this retreat and is one of the many eagle sightings that happen throughout each day as you relax and retreat.
The Perch Cottage
The 2 bedroom 1 bath cottage sit's atop the retreat and has two queen beds, a twin bed, and a sleeper loveseat for those to rest. The living room has a wood-burning fireplace with a tv and air conditioning unit. The kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, stove, and coffee maker. The deck out the front door is a great place to relax after a fun day on the lake to continue to soak up the beautiful views of the lake and property.
The Eagle's Nest
The 2 bedroom 1 bath "nest" sits in the middle of the retreat, under the eagle's nest, and has a queen bed, twin bunk beds, and a sleeper loveseat for a group to enjoy. The living room has a wood-burning fireplace with a tv and air conditioning unit. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a refrigerator, stove, and coffee maker. The back deck offers a peaceful retreat from the lake as it overlooks the wooded preserve with great views of the hardwoods and pines.
The Waters Cabin
The 2 bedroom, 1 bath cabin is down the path from the main house and nestles right up to the lake to the east by the Waters pier. The cabin has two king bedrooms and a large living room with tv and cooling unit. Windows line the living room and lakeside bedroom to make you feel like you could reach out and touch the clear lake water. The kitchen boasts up to date appliances and counter seating and is fully equipped for all to enjoy. A stackable washer and dryer are located in the bathroom to provide convenient laundry facilities. Close to the lake, this cabin is near the paddleboards, kayaks and fun.
A central firepit welcomes everyone to gather at night to toast smores, trade stories, or play the guitar.
