Get away from the hustle and bustle and wake up to the peaceful country air. Kalara Cottage is situated on a working farm between Shepparton and Benalla. Just a short drive to the famous Violet Town market, Tallis Wines and historic Dookie township. Pat horses, collect fresh eggs from the chickens and pick fresh veggies from the veggie garden. Your hosts live on the farm so are close enough to help, but far enough away that you have your privacy.
The space
The cottage has a fully appointed kitchen and dining space, two comfy recliner lounges and a large bathroom with large roomy shower with rainfall showerhead. Attached carport provides sheltered parking. Outdoor settings on both the front and back verandah offer idyllic spots to enjoy a coffee or beverage while you take in the sunrise or sunset.
This is a working horse farm, so while we encourage you to explore, for your own safety, we ask that you stay out of any paddocks that have animals in them and leave any gates as you found them.
Tea, coffee, milo and a continental breakfast is supplied
The back yard has a fire pit that can be lit on non-windy days. We will supply an initial amount of wood. If guests would like more, it can be purchased for a small fee.
Only a short drive to the famous Rail Trail, we can offer a yard or paddock (at additional cost) to anyone who would like to holiday with their horse. Just organise this with your host prior to booking.
If you love to fish, bring your fishing rod as we are close to the Broken River, Goulburn River, Lake Nillahcootie, as well as a leisurely 1 hour drive to the mighty Murray River

You have the whole cottage to yourself along with a large backyard space with swing set, BBQ and veggie garden.
Other things to note
We have 2 pet dogs (an over friendly Koolie and cheeky Jack Russell) and 2 farm cats that like to roam around the property. While the cats are friendly, we ask that you leave them be unless they come to you for a pat. Pippa, the Jack Russell can be wary of new people so just like the cats, leave her be and she will come over for a pat when she is ready.
Please supervise any children around the farm, especially the dogs and cats.
