Positive: The receptionist, Sonia, is better than many concierges at 5* hotels. She is extremely knowledgeable and helps arrange many things well - brilliant. The breakfast in the room is excellent, always punctual, freshly cooked, plentiful, tasty. The room cleaners do an excellent job and are thorough. All in all the staff are excellent and friendly. Indeed, I stayed here shortly after it opened and it was wonderful, pristine, the facilities were great value for money.... But now ~8 years later? The bad news: Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance. The owner is not bothering with maintenance.
Negative: The owner does not know of the concept of maintenance. The purpose of the owner should be to invest to maintain the quality of the hotel, rather than let it slowly decay into a Greek ruin. Fittings and fixtures that were great in 2016 are now broken, e.g. the shower doors in at least two of the bedrooms are dangerously falling off their broken rollers. A lick of paint here and there does not cover the slow fall into disrepair that this hotel is currently experiencing. A total shame that the owner doesn't seem to be bothering to keep up the good standard that was there at the beginning. Please, please, please, owner listen to your guests. Maintain your investment. Read the recent reviews, get your head out of the sand, and initiate a managed series of rolling maintenance and renewal policies, otherwise guests will stop coming.
Summary: Once was great. The staff are excellent. But dissappointingly the owner has not maintained.
