Restored 143 year old mansion next to dozens of trailheads at the base of Mt. Helena. A couple of blocks from downtown. Walk to breweries, art galleries, coffee shops, wine bars, bakeries, and restaurants. World class mountain biking, fishing, and the Archie Bray all minutes away. Within driving distance of Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. Huge outdoor porch and balcony with views of the cathedral and Mt. Helena. A short drive to the Missouri river, hot springs, and the local ski resort.
The space
The apartment is on the second floor of a historic 1890's Appleton mansion. Guests have exclusive use of the home's main entrance. The apartment includes two bedrooms, one bath, a small shared space with a studio sized kitchen. One bedroom includes a king sized bed. The other includes a queen. Both bedrooms have large walk-in closets with built-ins. I have some bikes, canoes, and kayaks if you are interested in using them.
Guest access
The whole front of the house is exclusively yours and sealed off from the rest of the home. You have private access to the front grand entrance, porch, 2nd floor balcony, stairway, kitchen etc. There is no wheelchair accessibility and guests should be aware that the apartment is located up a single flight of stairs.
With both the balcony and porch there is lots of outdoor space that is best utilized in the summer and shoulder seasons. In the winter, some guests might find the space a bit on the small side if you are a party of 4 adults. It is fine for 3 or a family in the winter. The owner lives on premises in a separate back wing and there are no shared walls between the apartment and the owner's space. The home is an 8000 square-foot mansion and we have used extensive sound attenuation materials in the walls and doors (I used to build music studios) therefore the apartment is a very private space.
Other things to note
If you are a coffee lover, you will have a dozen different ways to brew. Your stay also comes with some organic, single origin complimentary beans as well as several loose leaf teas to choose from. I just purchased an espresso machine too!
The bedrooms and living space are on the second floor, so there are steps. The shower/bath is in a clawfoot tub, some guests with mobility issues might find challenging to step in and out of.
There a some great appliances include a Wolf stove top. There is a large TV in one of the rooms that is connect to a "Fire Stick." This will give you access to regular TV but if you have an Amazon account you can stream too.
