The sauna is shared with our other seasonal rental on an adjacent lot. The sauna is situated between the rentals, and they are separated by woods. This is the ultimate camping experience. Firewood is provided for the sauna. I have photos of the sauna posted.
Cozy Camp Loon is rental cabin on our other property next door. It sits on .75 separate acres. Both rentals have separate parking. The trailer has parking for two vehicles. You can rent both places if you have a large group. It depends on availability. Booking ahead of the summer season is always a better chance to get both rentals for same dates
I am always a phone call or text away. My cousin Pam is our caretaker, and she lives close by to help if needed. I’ll have phone numbers in binder, and info on everything.
Activities Off Hwy M28 are:
* Lake Superior-public deck and stairway, is a short 2 minute walk from our driveway. The shoreline across from our property has large rocks to protect from erosion. We still go down that way, but for those who aren’t able the stairway make it easy to access to the beach.
Heading West
* Lakenenland 1 mile is a great place. A Local resident built a garden of art from scrap material. You can hike over from our place or drive over
* Ojibawa Casino is 4 miles, and the largest in the UP. Newly renovated, and now has entertainment and a restaurant
* Chocolay River is 6 miles, and has a kayak/canoe launch. Great fishing too
* Michigan Made Shop and Visiter center are 10 miles on your way to Marquette, off Hwy 41
* Marquette is close by only 14 miles
Heading East
* Au Trian River has a Kayak/canoe launch. It’s only 18 miles to the east of cabin
* Au Train is a quaint little gem of a town. It has outfitter rental for kayak and canoes. It has a wonderful public beach, and good places to eat
* Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore Park” is 30 miles
* Biking all the way to Marquette or Munising right from our driveway. M28 has very wide shoulder that make it a safe and popular ride.
* Off road vehicle-ORV trail runs behind our property. ORV heading east is 24 miles long, and going west 2 miles it connects to the ORE Heritage bike only trail. The ORE is 45 miles going all the way to Marquette, and further on to Republic.
* Brownstone Inn restaurant is 15 miles, and is a historical location. Excellent food, Friday nights fish fry is best in the region, white fish and Perch
* Water falls are easy access of Hwy M28
* Sea kayaking tour, Ship Wreck tour, and Grand Island tour are all off Hwy M28 in the town of Munising
I have Brochures on all activities, sight seeing, and some of the best restaurants menus
Below I’ve made descriptive highlight of day long excursions that are the best of Upper Michigan
Further east of Munising Are little gems towns like the historic town of Grand Maria, and the famous sand dunes (Log Slide Overlook). Remember going down this dune is fun but a bugger going back up. Nearby is White Fish Point lighthouse and museum, which provides history of famous shipwrecks, including the Edmund Fitzgerald that sunk in that area during a fierce November storm in 1975. Close by the museum is Tequanimum Falls State Park. The park offers walking trails, a gorgeous waterfall, and a microbrew restaurant to relax at during your visit.
I highly recommend a driving trip up the north west shore of Marquette county, highway 550. It leads to public trails such as Sugar Loaf lookout, little Presque Isle Park, and Harlow Lake. Continue up to the historic town of Big Bay. This town is filled with so much history. The Big Bay Hotel was the place that a famous murder took place in 1952, and was the same site Jimmy Stewart stared in the movie "Anatiomy of a Murder". The hotel has a nice cafe and museum dedicated to the the movie, and another famous guest Henry Ford. The prestigious Huron Mountain Club is located in this same region, but is exclusive to members only. Look up "the secrets of Huron Mountain Club" for the rich history of this truly primitive location, and its world famous members. Henry ford was a member of this club, and he also had a mill factory here that produced the wood panels for the ford vehicles. You can see the abandoned mill from the hotel. Just past the hotel 550 turns in to a dirt road that ends at the Big Bay Lighthouse. It's a B&B now, but you can still tour the grounds and gardens. I tried to provide highlights of this area. It has so much more to offer than mentioned. During the Fall season it has spectacular colors to enjoy, and the cabin is open through October.
