Located on the picturesque island of Sao Vicente in Cape Verde, this property is set in a serene location with mountain views to the rear and ocean to the front, but only fifteen minute drive away to the restaurants, shops and nightlife in Mindelo. A spacious hideaway, this makes an ideal place to holiday when looking to escape the grey skies and needing somewhere comfortable to relax after a hard days sunbathing on the beach, a hike up Mount Verde , shopping or a night on the town in Mindelo.The property has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The living room opens onto a balcony and front facing rooms have lovely sea views including the master bedroom where there is also direct access to a balcony.Additionally there is a roof terrace which provides another area to appreciate the landscape and sea views and perhaps spot a whale. Picnics may be enjoyed on North Baia beach which you may have all to yourself sometimes. Please note that this beach is close to the house but access to it may prove difficult for anyone with moderate to severe disabilities as there is no proper path and access is via "dunes". For a moderately fit person it will take approximately ten minutes to walk across the dunes to reach the edge of the sea (the house is not on the beach but has direct sea views).
We recommend an early morning stroll along the sea path to the lagoon at Baia Das Gatas where you can have a swim in the warm water which feels like a bath in the peaceful surroundings of the mountains dotted with the occasional colourful village dwelling. For water sport enthusiasts, there is Kite Surf school at nearby Salamansa beach. Other beaches include Praia Grande and Sao Pedro beach where horse riding lessons may be taken and for the more adventurous with car hire our local information guide will show others rarely used.
The house is ideally placed for some beautiful walks or picnics along the coastline. Taxis are available for the short drive into Mindelo or we can recommend places for car hire. There are no shops or restauarants in North Baia , only sun, sea ad mountains. Should time permit, we recommend a visit to the beautiful neighbouring island of Santao Antao. Ferries leave Mindelo daily for the journey (Euro8) which takes under one hour. If time permits we also recommend visiting the other Cape Verde Islands to appreciate the diversity.
