GETTING THERE:
Russell Island is a picturesque 1 hour 15 min vehicle barge ride from Weinam Creek Terminal, Redland Bay, Brisbane the final stop in the SMBI Southern Moreton Bay Islands after Karragarra, Macleay and Lamb Islands and costs about $150 return for a regular car/SUV, extra for trailers.
VEHICLE BARGE - Book ASAP conveniently online with Sealinkseq to ensure you get a booking as spaces fill up quickly. Have your car length, height and width measurements handy to input in the online form. For a small fee, car ferry bookings can be changed depending on availability.

These journeys can be hot for pets so consider bringing a dog bowl, cool ice water and even a handheld water fan to help keep your dog comfortable. Be aware that all dogs must be muzzled if they are they are taken out of the car on vehicle barges.
PASSENGER FERRY -
Another option, if not taking too much baggage is the passenger ferry at about $10 per person (go-card or eftpos available) and takes either 20 or 35 mins to Russell Island depending on direction taken. Try dropping luggage kerbside at the terminal before parking, allowing plenty of time to find a car park, then line up to catch the next passenger ferry which generally run every half hour but check schedules. Moores Rd carpark is a 7 min walk connected by a pathway along to the passenger terminal but finding available parking spaces anywhere is always challenging.
Be aware that all dogs even lap dogs must be muzzled onboard SMBI passenger ferries at all times and even on vehicle barges if they get out of the car. Muzzles may be sold onboard the passenger ferries but as dog shapes vary, it may help purchasing one uniquely for your dog ahead of your trip.
