Hello, we're so glad you're here.
River+Rock Cottage is a charming year-round destination in the heart of Valle Crucis. Not only are you a mile or 2 down the road from restaurants and local attractions, but just 15 minutes to Boone, Banner Elk, & Blowing Rock. Homey and relaxing, but close to the fun.
River+Rock is locally owned and personally cared for by our family. We strive to personalize your stay, leaving special touches and treats to create lasting memories.

QUICK UPDATE: Our cottage has power and we are so fortunate to NOT have sustained Hurricane Helene damage despite our area being so damaged, even just houses down the road. SUPPORT the community, help our local economy and the locals themselves by coming to visit our still beautiful area! Trees are down, there is a lot to do, but Boone and Blowing Rock are safe. An old family cottage hand-built in the 1960s, and then brought back to life in 2019. This charming cottage is roughly 800 sq ft nestled on an acre of rocky and wooded steep land. This property has year-round easy access right off of Hwy 194/Broadstone Rd. The driveway is uphill, but does not require 4 wheel drive to climb. There are 3 tandem parking spots located straight up the drive.
- Located directly across the road from the Watauga River well known for it's year-round fly fishing. You can hear and see it's rushing waters from the front deck and bedroom.
- In the backyard a huge boulder sits next to the deck forming a small cave below, still full of mystery. Rest in hammocks in the summer looking up at the tall trees, or build a fire in the winter with all the kindling and wood provided at no extra cost.
- Both bedrooms have queen size beds with oversized and very comfy cloud-like bedding. Extra pillows, even king sized, are provided as well. There is a 32 inch TV in the front bedroom! Feel free to use the washer and dryer in the front bedroom as well.
- Full sized kitchen and appliances are available for any cooking you may need to do, as well as every pot, pan and utensil we could think of.
- Relax in the living room and snuggle up on the Stressless furniture. An old fashioned DVD player with a large DVD library should suit any mood on the 55 inch TV! Wifi is of course provided for any apps you wish to use as well.
If there is ever anything else you may need or if you run into an issue, just know we are only a few curves and hills away. This is very much our family owned and run vacation rental, personally cleaned by us with hand-picked and placed treats and details for you. We are always happy to answer your questions, and hope to make you feel at home.

The front door has a keypad entry, and we will give you the code to enter prior to your arrival. The code will not change during your stay.
You have the entire house and property to yourself, and we will not need to meet with you unless you request to :)
The driveway to the house is a shared driveway, so please do not block the path of the driveway during your stay. Please be respectful of the neighbors.

Feel free to text or call us with any needs. We live close by on our hobby farm (hope you like eggs!).
We are frequently available to bring you things you may need, answer questions about the area, and give you some recommendations if you would like. Cody is an avid fly fisher, and we have completed almost every hike within an hour's drive and will happily answer any outdoor-related questions you may have as well.
In the living room you will find a book we made on further details regarding the home (i.e how to work certain things like the fireplace), as well as ALL of our favorite eateries, drinkeries, and activities.

While Valle Crucis is a small and well established community, there are NO sidewalks. We would not encourage walking long distances on Hwy 194, especially with young children.

RULES: We only have a few hard and fast rules that are quite easy to follow for about 99.9% of the population:
1. Please keep after and clean your own dishes. There is a drying rack on the counter for after you wash. And if you break one, no biggie, just let us know. We've all been there.
2. If you move things around (like the dining table/ chairs... yes, that happened) please put it back where it belongs before you leave. Also, if you unplugged something that was plugged in, just be sure to plug it back in where it was.
3. Please place all the towels/wash clothes you used on the bathroom or shower floor on your way out.
4. Finally, we ask that you keep your trash cleaned up throughout the house before you leave. If you had Chick-fil-a, AWESOME, we love it too! Just put it in the kitchen trash can and don't leave it on the table for us to get jealous of ;)
Other things to note:
Small parties and gatherings are absolutely allowed!!! Have some fun. But we frown greatly upon large parties late into the night with excessive alcohol use.
If you go through more than 2 bags of garbage, please call/message us so we can pick it up and take it to the dump for you. There are bears in the area, so do not leave trash or food outside that they can easily get to.
