Nestled in a valley of boulders only minutes from Joshua Tree National Park, Silk Springs is easily accessible and safely situated, yet remote enough to appreciate the beauty and solitude of the Mojave. The 5-acre property is fenced with gated entry, providing peace of mind as you soak in our luxurious marble tubs under the stars, enjoy a game of pickleball in the barn, and take in the gorgeous views from the heated pool and in-ground jacuzzi, filled with healing mineral water from our private well.
Critically-acclaimed restaurants and downtown shopping are a few short minutes away, and Joshua Tree's only free and (in our opinion) most stunning trail, the 49 Palms Oasis, is a mere 3 minutes away. You can have it all—a peaceful desert retreat, premium spa-like getaway, indoor pickleball—for your own private enjoyment.
—The House
Considered an American architectural treasure, fewer than 300 octagon houses remain in North America, coveted for their unique style and energy efficiency. Our newly renovated Desert Octagon is one of the only few open to guests, making this a rare chance to stay in an architecturally-significant piece of American history.
The sprawling house has 4 beds, easily accommodating large groups while providing everyone enough space. The two floors are aesthetically divided into a Zen-inspired upper floor perfect for meditation, yoga, and sound baths, featuring a natural sundial in the octagon foyer; while the colorful lower floor is designed to stimulate creativity and playfulness.
The expansive Henry’s Lounge features wall-to-wall glass accordion doors that open onto the pool deck, creating a desert oasis that doubles as a workspace and social scene. The wrap-around porch veranda offers 360-degree views of the desert landscape and stunning city views at night. A professional massage table is included at no additional charge.
—Parties/Events
Parties are not allowed by city law. The city also enforces a quiet hours rule from 10PM-7AM and prohibits amplified music outside *at ANY hour.* The property has a noise-monitoring device that measures decibels for liability purposes.
Violations will incur a $200/incident charge. Depending on severity, violators will be asked to leave without refund.

—Parking/Vehicles
Per city law, no more than 3 vehicles at a time may be parked at the property. Violations will be subject to a $200/incident fee; serious violators will be asked to leave without refund.
Tesla charging stations are 5 minutes away. We're more than happy to assist with additional parking options upon request.
—Pool + Jacuzzi
Pool heating is available and requires at least 24 hours' advance notice. Like other local properties, we charge a nightly fee due to high fuel costs. Pool will be heated between 79-82 degrees. The fees are applied for all nights of your stay:
Jan, Feb: $200/night
March-June: $150/night
July, Aug: $80/night
Sept, Oct: $150/night
Nov, Dec: $180/night
Guests under 18 require adult supervision at all times. No diving or glass near the pool. Partake at your and your guests' own risk.
*Please do not use oils or soaps in the water features. Any consequential costs will be charged.
**Pool service takes place every Wednesday.
—Hot Springs & Cold Plunge
The outdoor spa area features 3 luxury tubs of Nero Marquina marble for rejuvenating soaks under the sky. The tubs are filled with natural mineral water from our private well and contains zinc, recommended by dermatologists for its anti-inflammatory properties.
Ice buckets are provided for cold plunges.
Guests under 18 require adult supervision at all times in the water features. Partake at your and your guests' own risk.
*Only biodegradable products allowed. Please do not use oils or soaps. Any consequential costs will be charged.
—Pickleball
Our indoor 15' x 32' court is in the Picklebarn. As the only indoor court in Joshua Tree, it is shielded from desert winds so guests can enjoy regardless of weather. Games can be played singles or doubles with four paddles provided.
The court area also has a hangout and work space with large tables and WiFi.
Barn roller door must be closed:
- overnight
- in strong winds
- during rain
Loft access is prohibited. Guests under 18 require adult supervision at all times. Play at your and your guests' own risk.
—Steam Shower
Our luxury steam shower offers an aromatherapy option. Guests should bring their own organic oils to enjoy.
Maximum use of 20 minutes at a time recommended. Never use the steam shower when intoxicated or dehydrated. Guests under 18 require adult supervision at all times. Partake at your and your guests' own risk.
—Smart TV
The smart TV has HBO, Netflix, Hulu, etc. to connect with your accounts. It also has Screen Mirroring for presentations, family photo time, etc.
—Broken Items
Accidents happen. If anything breaks—even if it's your fault—please let us know so we can have it replaced or fixed for you and future guests. If we discover broken items AFTER check-out, we may have to charge a fee for rushed fixes and/or compensatory damages if the damage is severe.
Please leave the house in the same condition as when you arrived.
—Plumbing
All local houses are on a Septic Tank system. For this reason, only toilet paper can be flushed down the toilet. Sanitary products etc must be disposed of in the wastebaskets.
If it is determined that pipes have been clogged due to misuse, a $200 repair fee will be charged.
—Security Camera
Four exterior cameras are located at the front and back of the property for liability purposes and not monitored. Two are at the front of the front door, one is at the back above the pool and another by the black stage. They record any movement 24/7. Any tampering is forbidden and will be charged. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
—Film/Video and Photos
Silk Springs is a versatile production location and we welcome you to tag us @silk.springs on IG. Professional shoots must be scheduled in advance. Violations will incur a $2000 fee and $500/production hour. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
—Pets
Housebroken pets are allowed at $100/pet. Pets must be kept in an enclosed indoor area when left alone. They are not allowed on the beds or furniture. Damages or excessive cleaning will incur a fee.
Registered service animals do not incur a charge; we simply ask that you let us know ahead of time to avoid confusion.
As animal lovers, we know that fake service animals can be harmful for the community and remind guests it's a crime in the state of California. We appreciate your cooperation.
—Smoking
Smoking/vaping is prohibited inside and within 15 feet of exterior doors/windows. Please dispose of cigarettes properly in closed plastic bags.
Violations will incur a $100 special cleaning fee. We appreciate your cooperation.
—Black Stage
The black stage on the property is an art piece for your viewing and photo pleasure. Climbing is prohibited.
—Wildlife
The desert property is teeming with wild critters like lizards, spiders, and beetles. If you aren't ready for this, this experience may not be for you. Keep windows and doors closed. Occasionally, there are rare snake, scorpion, and tarantula sightings, and guests must always be mindful of the possibility of rattlesnakes. We are happy to have an animal relocated if you require assistance. Please make sure you are ready for the full and wild variety of life out here.
—Check In/Check Out
Check-in time starts at 4PM; check out is 11AM.
Late check-outs will be charged $25 for every 15 minutes after 11:15AM (this is for our cleaning team who will have to work faster/later to get the place ready). We will do our best to accommodate late check-outs upon request.
