Built in 1940, in the heart of the Mesa neighborhood, this Spanish estate was originally a small, exclusive brothel known to host some of the biggest movie stars of the era. Today, the property includes a saltwater pool, hot tub, full-size tennis court, shuffleboard court, and a one-of-a-kind, spacious, 4 bedroom, 5 bathroom house. Every bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom.
The property sits at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains, 2 minutes to the Ace, 2 minutes to L’Horizon, 4 min to the Saguaro and just a short 5 minute drive to the wonderful shops, restaurants, museums and nightlife of downtown Palm Springs!
The Spanish-Moorish architecture is dotted with detail, featuring beautiful archways, eclectic oak hardwood flooring, spanish tile, french doors leading to the pool, small recessed seating niches, soaring beamed ceilings, a very special breakfast nook and a private master suite. Surrounded by lush landscaping, the property is your own private oasis - the gracious patio spaces and outdoor bbq, large saltwater pool and spa, tennis and shuffleboard courts give you the privacy and space to do everything or nothing at all!
THE HOUSE
At 3,600 square feet, Casa Las Damas is a single level home that isn’t short on space with a large living room, sunroom facing the pool, 3 fireplaces, kitchen, dining areas inside and out, and 4 bedrooms, each with en suite bathroom, plus an additional guest bathroom off the kitchen.
The master bedroom is located in its own wing and features french doors that lead directly out to the pool. The large sunken room has a king bed, lounge area with gas fireplace, and a special en-suite with an oversized grotto style shower clad in stone. One guest room sits just off the home’s main entrance with queen bed and en suite with shower/tub combo. Guest rooms 2 and 3 are located on the other side of the house both with en suites shower/tub combos; one furnished with a queen bed, the other with two singles. Each bedroom offers cable TV and blackout curtains to make it easy to sleep late.
THE OUTDOORS
Like the interior, the exterior is not wanting for space. At almost half an acre, the lot features a poolside patio, equipped with built-in gas bbq, outdoor seating area, and dining table tucked under a magnificent oak tree. In addition to the full size tennis court, there’s a shuffleboard court for when tennis just seems like too much work. Play a game, take a dip in the pool, or sit pretty and soak up the sun or shade.
THE DETAILS
Please note this is an older house, not recently renovated. The tennis court surface does have cracks, so don’t plan to hold your own Indian Wells tournament, but it’s definitely functional. Primary renter must be 25 years or older. There is a maximum occupancy of 8 overnight occupants, 12 daytime occupants. In an effort to respect the neighbors, parties and outdoor music are not permitted. The City’s observed quiet hours are from 10pm - 10am. There is no smoking allowed inside the home.
