Beautiful and spacious house on 3 floors for 14-15 persons, a beautiful pool with a view of the Nlevole Valley, a garden dominated by olive trees, the scents of lavenders and thyme, a covered gazebo to have lunch or dinner outside on a table made of pink marble from Verona, tastefully furnished, very comfortable bedding, near Florence, Pisa (airport 40 min away), Lucca, Viareggio (sea 55 km away), magnificent villages from medieval times, discovery trails (Massa Cozzile, Vinci and Leonardo Museum, Borgo in Buggiano), thermal baths Montecatini and Monsumanno, forests, torrents, the Pinocchio Park in Collodi, a natural zoo in Pistoia, cinemas and shops in Montecatini, the old cable car between Montecatini Terme and Montecatini Alto. Half a dozen very good, inexpensive restaurants and pizzerias within a 10 min radius. Horse riding excursions can be done, mountain bike and motorbike tours, charm and tranquillity (the first neighbours are 200 - 300 m away). Pets are allowed.
The villa is located in the North of Tuscany and set in an ideal location geographically, from which to visit the most important towns (Florence, Pisa, Lucca) but also nearby are pretty villages far from the traditional tours (like Massa and Cozzile, Borgo in Buggiano, Montecarlo, Vinci, etc.). It is possible to go in one day to Siena, Volterra or San Gimignano because the motorway is close to the house (20 minutes away). For nature lovers, walks and mountain biking, there are many excursions and trails to follow in the countryside. All you need to do is ask at the tourism office of Marliana which has maps. Higher in altitude towards the Abetone mountain, the landscape changes, there are forests, chestnut trees, blackberries, the possibility of going horse riding. In winter, it is possible to ski on the Abetone, in a domain of 60 km spreading on 3 resorts, by horse in the Apennine Mountains, between Tuscany and Emilie-Romagne. From the house, we can very easily get to Pistoia and to its nice zoo where the animals live in spaces imitating their real habitats. Not far from here, is the village of Collodi of the author of Pinocchio and a park created by artists with plenty of animations for children, it is an ideal excursion for the day, especially if you have small children who are not very interested by the old stones. Another suggestion, more for teenagers: an excursion between rock climbing and canyoning in Orrido di Botri, even more to the North of Tuscany, it is also doable in the day but you will have to leave quite early to enjoy the rare sun rays that go through the rock walls of this Tuscan canyon. From the house, you can even spend a day at the sea, in Forte dei Marmi/Torre del Lago, on the Versilia littoral, all you need to do is take the motorway towards Viareggio from Montecatini and exit at Torre del Lago (the summer villa of the composer Puccini is by the lake). Usually, it is better to rent a sun umbrella and sun loungers for the day. They are long sandy beaches, the water is cloudy because of the sand, but is clean. In Torre del Lago, there is a good pizzeria in which to unwind before going back home. Our house is also ideal for gourmets and we have left a leaflet of excellent and inexpensive restaurants, pizzerias, within a 10 km radius 30 min away maximum from the villa. We particularly recommend La Clinica Oenogastronomica in Goraiolo, a village located on the main road, towards Abetone after passing Marliana. It is one of the places where you can still find cep mushrooms picked in the region (not imported), some wild boar sausage and some pastas with wild boar or venison stew, and especially the famous 'chianina', a type of beef meat coming from regional livestock farming. For meat lovers, you can let yourself go and order up to 1 Kg per person, the final bill is absolutely affordable. Enjoy your stay!!!
