Located just steps away from Lake Opinicon, the lakehouse affords endless relaxation as well as watersport opportunities, including an on-site beautiful dock (with ladder) for swimming and two stand-up paddleboards. The home is nestled in an idyllic forest setting with stunning views of the lake and abounds with wildlife; Deer, foxes, bald eagles, and otters are commonly spotted resting, eating, and playing from the windows!
The nearby public boat launch, marinas, and Skycroft Campground's boat rentals will satisfy motorized water-sport and fishing enthusiasts. The large windows in the great room offer picture-perfect views of the lake, as guests enjoy an unobstructed vista of the natural world in all its splendor from the comfort of the lovingly-renovated cottage. On hot summer nights, guests can sleep easy in air-conditioned, HEPA-filtered comfort, while enjoying the ambiance of cottage living.

The two, beautiful 4-piece bathrooms include shower and soaker tubs to relax, after taking in some of the day-tripping and sporting options in the local area. Bring your book and enjoy the reading nook overlooking the lake or indulge in some sunbathing on the dock.
Adirondack/Muskoka chairs are ideally positioned outside for guests to appreciate the lake and treed view over a cup of coffee or tea. In addition, a barbeque, firepit, and waterfront deck allow guests to fulfill their vision of a perfect summer cottage experience.
Local day-tripping possibilities (Fun & Adventure!)
In addition to enjoying the water sports on Lake Opinicon and its adjoining lakes, the cottage is situated within a 2-minute drive of the Cataraqui Trail, which offers endless biking, walking, and cross-country skiing possibilities along the 104-kilometre trail system. After enjoying the trail, guests can delight in a meal at the nearby Opinicon resort, with a charming restaurant, pub and homemade ice cream shop that sits along the bank of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Rideau Canal waterway at Chaffey’s Locks, a beautiful and historic site that is a 4-minute drive from the cottage.
Within a 20-minute drive are the charming villages of Newboro and Westport, which feature golf, a beautiful vineyard and winery, Foley Mountain Conservation Area with excellent hiking and views, and quaint outdoor shopping areas. After enjoying some rest and relaxation in the local area, guests can also experience the multitude of day-tripping possibilities within a 1-hour drive, including a boat tour of the spectacular Thousand Islands or a visit to the nearby heritage towns of Perth, Smiths Falls and Canada’s first capital city, Kingston, Ontario. Ottawa is a 90 minute drive and offers world-class culture, museums, arts, and entertainment in the nation’s capital.
Within a 2-hour drive, guests can venture to Prince Edward County with Sandbanks Dune Beach, antique stores, vineyards and wineries, charming restaurants, and quaint ice cream shops for a perfect summer day.
Important information for guests:
Given the cottage’s proximity to the water, the rugged terrain, and the steep drop-off, this cottage does NOT accept guests under the age of 10. Further, due to limitations of the septic system, no more than 5 guests are permitted (no exceptions).
Bring your cross-country skis, snowshoes, and skates in the winter months to enjoy a serene winter wonderland. In the spring, summer, and fall, cycling enthusiasts are encouraged to bring bikes for the nearby Cataraqui Trail. Two adult bikes with standard size adult helmets are provided for your enjoyment.
The cottage also includes a welcome book, complete with information about the local area as well as suggested daily itineraries to help guests truly unwind.
