Summary: My husband and I and our two friends just completed a fantastic 3-night stay at Casinha Portuguesa. We definitely had a 5-star experience thanks to the wonderful host Jose and the qualities of the home! Jose provided excellent communication, including answering all of my questions before our stay, providing an extremely helpful guidebook with recommendations for the area, recommending a Douro River cruise that departed from an area near the house, giving very clear check-in and parking instructions, checking in with us during our stay to make sure everything was okay, and giving us tips to help keep the house at comfortable temperatures as we were visiting during a very warm period. We have stayed in many homes and have never had such excellent communication before! We really enjoyed our stay in the house, especially due to the spacious house being very clean, the lovely outdoor patio and well-maintained garden, and the gorgeous views. Added unexpected bonuses were the complimentary fresh water in the fridge, homegrown fruits in the kitchen, and regional specialty candy. There is a large Pingo Doce grocery store very close by, which is very convenient. I highly recommend a stay at Casinha Portuguesa to anyone visiting the gorgeous Douro Valley. Thank you, Jose for the wonderful 5-star experience!
