Positive: The location was very convenient and safe. Breakfast was not served, but there were snacks and drinks in the kitchen, including a large selection of coffees and teas. The kitchen was so cozy that my friend and I sometimes spent time there rather than being out sightseeing. It’s handy having access to a fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. For breakfast, Fernanda recommended Bar Pasticceria Piccioli, just a block and a half away, and we enjoyed cappuccinos and pastries there on several occasions. Her restaurant recommendations - Giorgio’s (across the street) and Maso (around the corner) – were also excellent. There are also grocery stores close to Tre Gigli. Despite having high expectations based on the reviews I read before booking at Tre Gigli, Fernanda managed to exceed our expectations. She was very prompt in answering questions and providing helpful information both before and upon our arrival. We felt she went out of her way to welcome us into her home. The icing on the cake was that she gave us tickets to a chamber music concert at a church in the neighbourhood, which we thoroughly enjoyed and especially appreciated after learning it was sold out and we couldn’t have gotten tickets ourselves.
Summary: Tre Gigli is a fantastic place to stay, and it will be my number one choice if I return to Florence.
