This renovated farmhouse has retained it's character with high beamed ceilings and beautiful chestnutwood windows, along with traditional style furniture.
This large 5 bedroom 4.5 bathroom villa is situated over 3 floors, and provides flexibile accommodation, either as one villa, or if you prefer two separate apartments. The entire property is included in the price, and you can arrange as you wishPerfect for two families or for couples with many en-suite rooms.
Both the spacious ,light and airy ground and first floors have their own fully equipped kitchens,living rooms with 2 large sofas in each and they both share a laundry room with washing machine ..... Each of these floors has the benefit of individual eating areas with views out over the land below and the mountains beyond ...
Outside there is a private 12m x 6m pool with internal steps, a barbeque, and a large sunbathing area for whiling away the hours.
There are 3 terraced areas leading from the house itself, giving a good choice for eating al fresco.
A perfect spot for a family holiday, especially for two families holidaying together who still want their own space.

A little about the area
This stunning villa is situated 1 hr. north of Lucca high in the hills of Garfagnana Northern Tuscany.
The views & walking opportunities are the real attraction of this property but there is a small bar/shop in two of the closest villages one of which is less than 1km away and a restaurant 2km away (half hour walk). There is also a pizzeria, and train station at the bottom of the hill 4km away. So, the countryside but not remote!
Just a 20 minute drive is Barga the beautiful mediaeval town, with its wonderful architecture, Duomo, very good restaurants, markets under the stars and regular free music.
Less than a 15 minute drive is the bustling little market town of Castelnuovo, famous for its Thursday morning market
The fully walled mediaeval city of Lucca is less than an hour away - try cycling around the walls, meandering in shady narrow streets and people watching in the Grand Piazzas while enjoying a drink or a gelato! Or, there are often outdoor concerts with big named performers, and if you prefer nightly opera recitals.
Florence and Siena can be reached for day trips, and Pisa with its airport is a 1 hr 15 minute drive.
The Versilian coast is a good day trip reached either via Lucca or more spectacularly by crossing through the Apuan Alps.
The famous Wind Caves are a 40 minute drive, as is the Canyoning park, where one can jump down waterfalls into beautiful rivers.
Closer to home there are plenty of little historic villages to visit, many of which have local festas in the summer.
Don't forget the lake of Vagli (with its hidden village submerged by the water) for an afternoon drive, or the lake of Pontecosi, where one can stop for a drink. Some some guests love to swim in the river too ...
Many guests enjoy to visit the local Fortress at Verrucole which is a good afternoon out, with stunning views and some interactive activities for the children. Close to the fortress is the Buffardello tree climbing and zip wire park (ideal for both adults and children of all ages with a variety of runs) where one can take a picnic or BBQ and spend the entire day in the welcome shade of the forest.
The real beauty of this area is the dramatic mountain scenery, and the hundreds of hilltop villages to explore, endless picnicking opportunities, and the pure peace of a non touristy holiday ......

Summary: When we arrived at our place we were relieved as the drive up the mountain was a bit scary the closer we got. When we opened the doors we were ecstatic at how nice the house was. Better than the online pictures. So much space and the views were breathtaking and different every morning. Wildlife out our back door. So many fire flies. Henné the property manager was so friendly and accommodating and helpful. Brought us coffee even after I said we were going for our own she arrived to meet us without any then went back out to get us some when I said we got lost going to the store. The little store we eventually found and it was really so easy to get to where we could order fresh bread for next day pick up. Henné gave us many tips and ideas of things to do in the area which we ran out of time to do. Maybe someday we’ll be back. The one tip I would give getting to the place is there’s a sign that says Vallechia. It’s a sharp left going upwards then the first sharp right. A sign at the sharp right would be most helpful as we missed it and had to back down the steep road. But once we arrived and knew where we were going I highly recommend this location👍
