Villa Piazza is a charming property (4500 sq.m total) situated in the South East of Sicily. A modern independent villa situated near Pozzallo, an authentic Sicilian town with 4 Blue Flag beaches and from where you can visit the Unesco protected baroque towns of Noto, Scicli, Ragusa, Modica, Ispica and Syracuse. The villa with its own private swimming pool and tennis court is a wonderful base where you can easily reach the blue flag beaches of Ispica.
Apart from the beautiful beaches, the villa is ideally located for those who love the Inspector Montalbano series and want to visit the towns where the series are being filmed such as Scicli, Punta Secca, the Donnafugata Castle at 66km and the Ragusa Ibla gem with its famous churches and squares.
Villa Piazza (approx. 200 sq.m) itself is as mentioned a spacious detached property all on one level, with a gated entrance and plenty of onsite parking. It has 4 bedrooms with skylight windows: two bedrooms with double bed (an additional folding bed can be added in each of these; these folding beds are suitable for children) and two bedrooms with 2 single beds each (these can be pushed together to form a double, if requested). Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with shower and air conditioning. A bright airy sitting room (with two air conditioning units) with a glass front looking out to the pool and garden area. There is also a kitchen for the chefs amongst you. There is also a fifth bathroom accessed externally which has a toilet and shower as well as the laundry room.
Two extra beds for children can be added in the double bedrooms on request, at an additional cost (added in the total price when you select 9 or 10 people in the booking).
Outside: Guests are truly spoilt with a good sized private swimming pool (7X14m; depth 1.2m-2.4m; open until October 31st) complete with diving board, outdoor seating and lounging space with a BBQ. Not to mention a private tennis court at the rear of the villa (but not in view of the pool). The outside space is vast, it has various sections, the pool area, then another seating area covered by a pergola and a beautiful water fountain feature which can be switched on for special occasions. In addition, plenty of car parking space.

Summary: We went for half term in October. The villa is amazing with a large living / dining room surrounded by glass sliding doors on three sides. The fourth side is a series of four identically sized bedrooms, each leading onto the lounge / dining room. There were 2 doubles and two twin rooms, each bedroom had its own en suite bathroom with a modern shower, sink & WC, and there were connecting doors between each double bedroom and the twin room next to it. As two families with children, it was perfect for us. The kitchen is off to the side of the villa. It is a smallish (relative to the size of the lounge) galley style kitchen, but it had all appliances required, and there was a huge and well acquainted BBQ area outside for outdoor cooking. The swimming pool is unheated, but very large with a diving board and 3 m depth at the deeper end. It was fairly chilly in October, but not chilly enough to keep the kids (aged between 4 and 10) out of it several times a day in regular summer swimwear. There was also an astroturf tennis court come 5-a-side football pitch (it had both goals and a tennis net) at the rear of the property, with equipment provided, which worked very well for us. The gardens are huge and a mix of lawns and stonework with two fountains(!). There is a golden sandy beach 2 minutes from the house, which was deserted when we were there, which was perfect for swimming, with waves big enough for kids to bodyboard in, and no steep drop off. The sea was still comfortably warm in October. The area was very quiet when we were there - the surrounding streets are all holiday villas, but very few seemed to be occupied (I am sure it is very different in August). There isn't a town to speak of within walking distance - just a small shop a few streets east which was not very well stocked. However there are several restaurants within longer walking distance along the beach front, and it is a short drive (c.10 minutes) to Pozzallo, which is a fairly large town on the seafront with plenty of shops and restaurants. The villa is privately owned, and we were met by the owner (Donzello) on the first day to receive the keys etc. He was very friendly and helpful and his English was good. There was also a custodian who collected rubbish bags and sorted out the pool every day or so, but he did it so discreetly that we didn't actually notice him at all. All in all we were very happy with the accommodation for the price we paid.
