Welcome to Shady Oaks Cottage; our family's lake house. We're excited to share it with you!
30 miles from downtown Charlotte, 15 minutes from I-77.
On a large, peaceful cove; perfect for skiing, wake-boarding, fishing or any water activities.
Enjoy your morning coffee from the sun-room or deck and watch the sun rise over the lake as the day awakens with the sounds of birds and trees rustling in the breeze. Or take your coffee to the covered boat dock and cast an early line. Want to take a relaxing paddle board or kayak ride in a wide open cove? Yep, you can do that too! Wanna know the locals secret? This is THE cove on Lake Norman to catch fish!!
After enjoying the day with all that Lake Norman has to offer, wind down with a relaxing meal at the large dining room table or outdoors on the deck. End the perfect day around the large firepit (firewood provided) or on the dock and watch the water become glass, or enjoy a good book, movie, game or puzzle in the family room.
We love to cook and entertain and, if you do too, then you'll appreciate the well-equipped kitchen - new refrigerator, electric stove/oven, dishwasher & disposal. A large, square dining table that easily accommodates all 8 guests. Full-pot drip and single serve coffee maker, Ninja blender, Crockpot, Insta-Pot, 4-slice toaster and miscellaneous other necessary kitchen gadgets for well-prepared meals.
The home has 2 large bedrooms on the main level - each with a Queen bed, and on the lower level, there's a Queen sleeper sofa in the living area, and twin trundle beds in a private room. Each bedroom has extra pillows, a full-size dresser, hangers and a luggage rack. Each floor has a full bath that is stocked with soap, shampoo & conditioner as well as ample bath linens. The lower level also has a laundry room with new full-size washer and dryer.
The deck has ample seating for 8 to comfortably enjoy a meal cooked on the 36" Blackstone griddle; OMgosh, have you had a smash burger cooked on one of these? The teak table comfortably seats 6 (or 8 intimately) and the balcony table seats the 2 lucky guests who get the million dollar view!
Launch at Hager's Creek which is less than 1/2 mile, and dock your boat or PWC in the covered boat dock with 15' deep water. There's also a beach area for easy access to the lake with kayaks and paddle boards (on a rack just feet from the shore). Swim from the beach or the dock which is equipped with a swim ladder. Beach towels are provided, as are life-preservers a very large lily-pad, kayaks, paddle boards and oars.
House is equipped with Wi-Fi - 300Mbp upload & download speeds via TDS provider with Internet TV.
Please note that this house is not "childproof" or "wheelchair accessible."
Fireplace in living room is not functional.
