Travel Purpose: business
Positive: Safe and very quiet area not too far from Manhattan (assume 45 mins to 1 hr travel time by public transport). The views of Manhattan from the street above the Port Imperial ferry terminal are amazing! Apartment was very clean and looked new & tastefully decorated; it felt spacious with lots of built-in storage space (closets) to keep things neat Host was highly responsive and issues that arose were dealt with quickly Overall: very good value!
Negative: The heating system is weird: bedrooms get much hotter than living room, making our first night uncomfortably hot; this was solved the next day on the host's advice by manually closing 2 out of 3 hot air vents in the larger bedroom and 1 out of 2 hot air vents in the smaller bedroom -- but I wish that the host had communicated about this issue / solution in advance of arrival! Water didn't drain properly from the shower; this was fixed reasonably quickly when raised with the host, but drainage should be checked ahead of every stay, as part of cleaning With respect to public transportation: do yourself a favor and take an Uber to the Port Imperial ferry terminal + a short and pleasant ferry ride to Midtown (or Downtown on weekday mornings / afternoon only), rather than the NJ Transit bus from Port Authority, which is a third-world experience (no fault of the host, of course!) If in the mood for some exercise, it's even possible to walk from the apartment to the Port Imperial ferry (50 mins to 1 hr).
