Positive: The apartment was very well equipped with a full selection of kitchen equipment including a dishwasher (tablets provided), coffee filter machine (filter papers provided) and a fridge freezer. There is a village bakery a few minutes' walk away which opens at 5.30a.m., so that's breakfast sorted! There is a road on one side of the house and a railway on the other, however the trains don't run at night and there was not much overnight traffic, so we found it quieter than you would expect from reading some of the other reviews here.

Negative: Being located in Teutoburger Wald, an area noted for outdoor sports, we expected that bicycle storage would be available, but the host was very dismissive and suggested we put our bikes in the open around the back of the car parking area, visible from the road and without anything to lock them to. I didn't even dare ask about bringing the bikes into the apartment as it was clear that this would not be welcomed. We ended up leaving the bikes locked to the towbar rack on the back of our car, which turned out ok as the weather was good, but not ideal. Also there was no washing machine available which would be important for outdoor sports enthusiasts, especially for a longer stay.

Summary: Comfortable apartment but not cyclist friendly
