Summary: I paid with a US credit card. After I received the receipt I realized the rate charged was more than it should have been by about 7%. By looking at my receipt I realized the hotel did not give me the option of choosing to pay in pesos as they are required to do, and as per the language on their receipt. They instead chose to charge me in American dollars at a horrible exchange rate. This is shady and deceitful and must be a money maker for them. Shame, shame.
