This Cottage is located on the Little River, and beside the Historical Swinging Bridge. Townsend is known as the “ Peaceful side of the Smokies" with the Little River winding through the town. Townsend is the Gateway to Cades Cove in Smoky Mountain National Park .
This is a brand new listing and newly completely renovated cottage on the Little River in Townsend Our guest may have access to Wild Laurel Resort which is formally known as Laurel Valley Resort. This includes a pool membership and 24 hour fitness center. The resort has live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights.
Sit by the river in our backyard under the large walnut trees and watch the children play in the river, or relax on the screened porch.
You can ride your bike from the cottage, over the Little River Bridge, and immediately have a long, flat bike trails into the Smoky Mountain Park. Also, Our street, Walnut Loop Road, connects to Walland Highway, a famous bike ride for more adventurous cyclist.
Little River Cottage is one of the few family cottages that is available to rent in this little area name "the Sunshine Community" in Townsend. .
Most all of the other surrounding cottages have been in families for several generations. Before air conditioning , to escape the heat these families would ride the train from Maryville or Knoxville to spend the summer . Even though now we have air conditioning , these same family cottages are a retreat from the busyness of life , brining families together again .
If you want to leave the " Peaceful side of the Smokies, Pigeon Forge and all it's attractions is just 20 minutes away . This includes Dollywood, Splash County and the Tanger Outlet Mall for shopping.
We are family friendly and welcome you to make Townsend a part of your yearly family traditions. We are a seventh generation Townsend family . We cherish the beauty of " the Peaceful side of Smokies" and all the outdoor activities.
