The 600 sq ft. cottage blends kitsch and character with modern conveniences. The size is cozy but perfect for a single a couple, two children or perhaps one other adult. (with permission from the owner) The interior is all wood, from floor to ceiling, built with wood from old ships. The kitchen includes all stainless appliances (refrigerator, microwave, stove/oven, and dishwasher), with a grill outside ready for barbecuing that we grant our guests use. However, we ask the guest to be responsible for obtaining their own gas for their use. The guest must maintain the grill and make sure it is in the proper place for cooking as shown in our guest book.
The cottage is a tandem two-bedroom, meaning you walk through the 'master' to get to the 2nd bedroom. A couple with one guest or 2 small children under 10 can sleep comfortably between the full bed, futon and cozy couch. The second bedroom does have an entrance and exit from the bedroom without going through the master, but it takes you outside to the patio, with re-entry via the main entrance. This bedroom has an antique desk and book collection for your use. It a lower matching dresser for your storage. The futon makes into a double bed. If a 3rd adult is added there is an up-charge. No more than 3 adults in the cottage.
The master has a very comfortable double bed, a writing desk and chair, 2 small closets, and a chest of drawers, plus 2 luggage racks. Hangers, an iron, a hanging shoe rack are provided. Extra linens are provided to use in the separate bedroom.
The full remolded bathroom is small but features a tiled shower with an aqua stone floor, and there is also an outdoor shower for rinsing with hot and cold water after a day at the beach. There are 3 window a/c units and ceiling fans that keep it very cool even on the hottest summer days, and a heating unit in the main living area that keeps the entire place warm in the winter, plus a booster heater if needed.
Other amenities include a TV, with outputs for your firestick or roku, HBO and showtime and basic cable, wifi. There are full linens (sheets and towels and beach towels) included. The kitchen with GE stainless appliances, a self cleaning oven, dishwasher, microwave, side by side fridge and cooking basics (utensils, dishes, pots/pans, spices, etc.). There is a coffee maker, espresso maker, blender, mixer, crock pot, sandwich maker and baking dishes for those so inclined!
The cottage is exactly as pictured. It is our home away from home filled with art, antiques and kitsch. It is a nurturing little cottage that is typical of those that filled the island in the 50's. While it is not a modern day high rise condo, it is a cozy reminder of another time and a true island delight.
We are dog lovers and accept pets with a separate and non-refundable $75 flea treatment fee per pet. Our limit is 2 and no cats please. There is a wonderful dog beach steps away. Be ever mindful that you are responsible for picking up after your dog in public. You will be ticketed if you don't "scoop the poop"!
Your quote does includes the taxes Airbnb will collect and pay. You will pay us directly for your pet(s), a non refundable deposit of $75 per dog, with a two dog limit. A large dog will be considered and an extra potential refundable fee of $100 along with the flea fee will be added to your payout.
We also have a surcharge of $200 for utility overages. This is part of the damage fee and is fully refundable as long as a guest stays within the normal range of electricity and water usage. Little things, like turning the AC's off or at higher temp levels when leaving for a day of sight-seeing or the beach helps us keep our costs down. Making sure to turn any faucets off completely, never leaving the outside hose in the on positions after using, etc. will insure conservation and bills that are not out of the ordinary. If there seems to be a leak anywhere, we ask our guests to contact us immediately as we can rectify the situation. we are happy to go over this policy with anyone, and show them the typical summer bills we expect to have to pay.
